About
Contraception for Queer Bodies is a free, self-paced online module designed to give clinicians foundational knowledge and confidence in delivering inclusive, affirming, and evidence-based sexual health care to transgender, non-binary, and gender-diverse (TGD) individuals. This introductory course is perfect for healthcare professionals across all disciplines who are new to working with TGD patients or want to improve their cultural competence. Participants will explore key concepts such as gender identity, inclusive language, and health disparities affecting trans communities. The module covers vital clinical topics including safer sex practices, contraception options, STI screening, and affirming approaches to physical exams and patient history-taking. Practical scenarios and best practice advice help bridge theory with real-world care. Developed alongside trans-led organisations and experienced clinicians, this module focuses on respectful, person-centred care that honours each individual’s gender, body, and autonomy. Whether you’re a GP, nurse, allied health professional, or student, Contraception for Queer Bodies will support you in understanding the unique needs of TGD patients and fostering safer, more welcoming healthcare environments. Thanks to funding from Pride Foundation Australia, this module is available free of charge. No prior experience in trans health is needed. Begin your learning journey today and take the first step toward more inclusive care. A short quiz is included at the end. Participants who complete the module and quiz will receive a certificate of completion. It has been allocated 1 CPD hours according to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia – Continuing Professional Development Standard.
